What to expect in 2027

Rocken am Brocken 2027 will take place from 29 to 31 July 2027 in Elend in the Harz Mountains of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The festival returns for another three-day combination of music, nature and camping, with the site located around ten kilometres from the Brocken. The official festival describes the event around three central ideas: nature, music and friendship.

Rocken am Brocken is known for bringing together indie, alternative, rock, pop, punk, hip-hop and electronic music in a relatively intimate outdoor setting. Rather than taking place in a major city, the festival uses the landscape around Elend, with performances surrounded by meadows, woodland and the Harz Mountains.

The 2027 programme is still being developed. The official website confirms that the lineup, ticket release and additional information will be announced progressively, with newsletter subscribers receiving updates first.

The festival is also expanding its emphasis on inclusion and accessibility. Current 2027 information includes accessible camping, accessible toilets and showers, a barrier-free viewing platform, equipment assistance and sign-language performances at selected concerts.

Camping is included with the standard festival ticket, so visitors can turn the three-day event into a complete weekend in the Harz rather than travelling back and forth to a hotel each night. The campsite opens on Thursday, giving ticket holders an opportunity to arrive before the main programme.

Event dates

Rocken am Brocken 2027 will take place from Thursday, 29 July, to Saturday, 31 July 2027.

The official festival page confirms the 2027 dates and describes the event as three days of music, nature and community in the Upper Harz. The complete 2027 daily timetable has not yet been released.

The campsite is scheduled to open on Thursday at 10:00 according to the current festival FAQ. Festival admission and camping are linked to the main festival ticket, meaning standard ticket holders do not need to purchase a separate basic camping ticket.

Previous festival operating information shows that the music programme normally extends well into the night. The 2026 schedule had the festival grounds operating from Thursday afternoon through the early hours of Friday, with similarly long programmes on Friday and Saturday. These times are previous-edition references rather than confirmed 2027 opening hours.

Visitors should allow enough time on Thursday for arrival, wristband collection and setting up their tents before exploring the festival grounds.

Venue & festival site

Venue: Festival grounds at Gieseckenbleek, Elend, Harz

Location: 38875 Elend, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany

Rocken am Brocken is held in Elend, a small village in the Harz region close to Sorge and Wernigerode. The festival site is positioned in a rural landscape rather than an urban event complex, giving the festival its characteristic combination of concerts and outdoor surroundings.

The current festival information identifies Elend as the destination for both rail and road arrivals. Elend railway station is approximately 15 minutes on foot from the festival grounds, while the village also has regional bus connections.

The festival grounds include the main performance area, camping, parking, food and drink facilities, sanitary facilities, drinking-water stations and accessibility services.

Previous festival site plans have included:

  • Festival parking
  • Tent camping
  • Motorhome camping
  • Accessible camping
  • Drinking-water stations
  • Toilets
  • Showers
  • Main festival entrance
  • Festival stages
  • First-aid facilities
  • Food and drink areas

The Harz setting is an important part of the experience. Visitors are surrounded by woodland and mountain scenery while the performances take place across several distinctive festival spaces.

Full lineup

The complete Rocken am Brocken 2027 lineup has not yet been announced. The official website currently states that the lineup will be released progressively together with ticket information and further festival updates.

Previous editions demonstrate the musical range visitors can expect. The 2026 programme included artists such as:

  • Peaches
  • Von Wegen Lisbeth
  • $oho Bani
  • Martin Kohlstedt
  • Mine
  • Team Scheisse
  • Swiss & Die Andern
  • Friska Viljor
  • RAUM27
  • MoLa
  • Fiora
  • Fuffifufzich
  • Pöbel MC
  • Blackout Problems
  • Esther Graf
  • Lara Hulo
  • Muryel
  • Marlo Grosshardt
  • Hinterlandgang
  • Remote Bondage
  • The Magic Mumble Jumble
  • Tiavo
  • Maria Iskariot
  • Tiny Wolves

The 2026 edition contained around 30 recorded artists in the published lineup databases, with additional DJ and supporting acts appearing across the programme.

These artists are previous-edition performers and are not confirmed for 2027.

Headliners & featured artists

Rocken am Brocken has historically mixed recognizable German-speaking acts with international performers, emerging artists and alternative acts. The 2026 programme included Peaches, Von Wegen Lisbeth, $oho Bani, Mine, Team Scheisse, Swiss & Die Andern and Martin Kohlstedt among the more prominent names.

The 2025 edition had a different group of featured performers, including Kate Nash, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, Madsen, Zartmann and Apsilon. This illustrates how the festival changes its programme substantially from year to year rather than relying on the same headline acts.

No 2027 headliners have been confirmed at the time of writing. Visitors should therefore wait for the official announcement before treating any previous performer as part of the 2027 programme.

The festival’s booking approach covers several connected genres, meaning a day can move from indie and alternative rock to hip-hop, pop, punk or electronic music without leaving the festival grounds.

Stages & performance areas

Brockenbühne: The Brockenbühne is the principal open-air performance area and one of the defining spaces of the festival. Previous editions have used it for larger concerts and prominent acts.

Jägerzirkus: The Jägerzirkus is a distinctive tent-based performance space that provides an alternative atmosphere to the open-air main stage. It has traditionally hosted a mixture of bands, DJs and late-night performances.

Zauberwald: Zauberwald brings the festival further into its natural surroundings and provides a woodland setting for music and other programme elements.

Hexenhütte: Hexenhütte is another smaller-scale festival area where visitors can discover alternative performances and supporting programme content.

Klangnest: Klangnest provides an additional musical space within the wider festival site and contributes to the multi-stage character of Rocken am Brocken.

These stage names and concepts come from recent festival formats and may be adjusted for 2027. The final site map should be checked once the organizer publishes the new festival plan.

Stage-by-stage schedule

The detailed Rocken am Brocken 2027 stage schedule has not yet been published.

Previous editions demonstrate that the festival operates several stages simultaneously. This means visitors can choose between major concerts on the Brockenbühne, more intimate performances in the Jägerzirkus and alternative music or DJ sets in the other festival areas.

The 2026 programme included performances from indie, pop, rock, punk, hip-hop and electronic artists across the festival’s different spaces. Published set-time records show performances beginning during the afternoon and continuing into the early morning.

Once the 2027 timetable is released, visitors should use the official schedule to plan around the artists they want to see. Because stages operate simultaneously, it is useful to leave walking time between performances and avoid scheduling back-to-back appearances at distant areas.

Set times

Official 2027 set times are not yet available.

The previous 2026 programme provides an indication of the festival’s daily rhythm. Published schedules recorded afternoon performances followed by evening headline appearances and late-night DJ or electronic sets. For example, one Thursday sequence included So Soon, Esther Graf, Mine, Blackout Problems, Team Scheisse, Peaches and Von Wegen Lisbeth across the evening and night.

The previous festival opening hours extended into the early morning, with the main event area operating until approximately 04:00 on Thursday and Friday and until approximately 05:00 on Saturday. These are 2026 reference times and should not be treated as the confirmed 2027 schedule.

Visitors should check the official timetable shortly before the festival because stage assignments and performance times can change.

Ticket types

Rocken am Brocken 2027 ticket prices have not yet been announced. The official website currently confirms that ticket information will be released progressively.

The previous 2026 ticket structure provides a useful reference. A standard three-day festival ticket was listed at approximately $163 after conversion from the published $139-equivalent euro price. The ticket included festival admission and camping, with camping and waste charges incorporated into the overall ticket structure.

A supporter-style ticket called “Helfender Falke” was approximately $210 based on the previous published price of €179. This option included the same three-day festival and camping access while allowing visitors to contribute additional support toward the festival.

Previous editions also offered day tickets. The 2026 reference prices were approximately $70 for Thursday and approximately $82 each for Friday and Saturday after conversion. These are previous-edition prices and are not confirmed 2027 rates.

Children and young visitors may have different admission arrangements depending on age and accompanying-person requirements.

VIP & premium options

Rocken am Brocken does not currently advertise a conventional VIP package with a separate luxury lounge, VIP viewing deck or premium backstage-style ticket.

The festival instead places emphasis on a shared camping and music experience. The standard festival ticket provides access to the event and camping, while the supporter ticket gives visitors an opportunity to pay more to support the continuation of the festival.

For visitors arriving by motorhome or camper, a separate WoMo ticket is required. This is an accommodation and vehicle-access product rather than a VIP upgrade. The official rules state that the motorhome area has no electricity supply and that generators and external vehicle batteries are not permitted.

Any new premium or hospitality products for 2027 should be checked through the official ticket information when the sale opens.

Event rules

Entry requirements: A valid festival ticket is required for entry. Once exchanged for a festival wristband, the wristband must remain intact and be shown when requested. Commercial ticket resale is prohibited under the current terms.

Prohibited items: Glass containers, weapons, axes, saws, pyrotechnics, generators, laser pointers, confetti, large sound systems, megaphones and other potentially dangerous objects are prohibited. Animals are also not permitted.

Food and drinks: Food and drinks may be consumed on the camping area but cannot be taken into the main festival area. A drinking-water station is available on the campsite and another in the festival area.

Recording: Professional recording equipment is prohibited, and the current terms also restrict audio and video recording of performances even for personal use.

Crowdsurfing and stagediving: The organizer asks visitors not to crowd surf or stage dive because of the risk of injuries.

Camping: Camping is only permitted in designated areas. Open fires are prohibited, while grilling can be restricted according to the fire-risk level and weather conditions.

Waste: Visitors receive a waste bag and are encouraged to return it filled at the designated collection point to recover the waste deposit.

How to get there

Rocken am Brocken is located in Elend in the Harz Mountains, west of the village and close to the Brocken. The festival’s rural location means visitors should plan their final connection carefully, particularly when arriving by public transport.

By train, the destination station is Elend (Harz). From the station, the festival grounds are approximately 15 minutes away on foot. Visitors travelling from Berlin, Hannover or Halle/Leipzig generally connect through Wernigerode before continuing toward Elend on the Harzer Schmalspurbahn.

The Harzer Schmalspurbahn provides a particularly distinctive way to reach the festival because the railway travels through the Harz landscape using the region’s narrow-gauge network.

Visitors travelling by car should follow the official festival directions and signage rather than relying exclusively on a generic navigation route. The festival site is near Braunlager Straße in Elend.

Public transport & parking

Train: Elend (Harz) is the main railway destination. The official festival information states that the festival grounds are approximately 15 minutes from the station on foot.

Harzer Schmalspurbahn: Visitors can travel from Wernigerode toward Elend using the Harz narrow-gauge railway. The current festival FAQ notes that the Deutschlandticket is valid on regional trains to Wernigerode and on the HSB route from Wernigerode to Elend.

Bus: Regional buses serve Elend, providing another connection from surrounding Harz towns.

Car: Parking and camping areas are separated for safety reasons. The current terms state that vehicles may only be parked in designated spaces, that emergency routes must remain clear and that vehicles longer than five metres are not permitted in the regular parking area.

Motorhomes: Visitors bringing a motorhome, caravan or suitable camper vehicle need a separate WoMo ticket. The current rules limit vehicles in the motorhome area to seven metres in length and 3.5 tonnes, with no electricity supplied.

Accommodation areas

Festival camping: Standard camping is included with the festival ticket, so visitors do not need a separate basic camping ticket. The campsite opens Thursday morning and remains available through the festival weekend.

Tent camping: Visitors should bring their own tent, sleeping mat and camping equipment. Camping is permitted only in designated areas, and visitors are responsible for removing their belongings before departure.

Motorhome camping: A dedicated WoMo area is available for approved motorhomes, caravans and suitable sleeping vehicles. Electricity is not provided in the area.

Elend: Staying in Elend itself provides the shortest distance to the festival but accommodation capacity is limited because the village is small.

Wernigerode: Wernigerode is a practical alternative for visitors who prefer hotels, guesthouses or apartments. It is also an important regional transport hub for reaching Elend.

Braunlage: Braunlage offers another accommodation base within the Harz region and can suit visitors who want conventional lodging rather than camping.

Food & drink

Rocken am Brocken provides food and drink facilities within the festival grounds. Previous festival information describes a food court offering vegetarian and vegan options as well as choices for visitors with food intolerances.

Visitors can also purchase drinks and snacks on site, while drinking-water stations are available both on the campsite and within the main festival area.

Food and drinks brought from outside can be consumed on the camping grounds but are not permitted inside the main festival area. Visitors should therefore plan their meals around the festival’s food outlets once they enter the Infield.

Camping visitors should bring suitable supplies for the weekend, but glass containers are prohibited. Plastic or metal bottles are recommended for personal drinking water.

The campsite also provides toilets and showers. The current FAQ confirms that food stalls, sanitary facilities and showers are available for campers.

Accessibility

Accessibility and inclusion are an established part of Rocken am Brocken’s current festival planning. The official inclusion programme provides an accessible camping area close to the main festival entrance, equipped with electricity and nearby accessible sanitary facilities.

The festival also provides accessible toilets and a sanitary trailer with an accessible toilet and shower close to the accessible camping area.

Companion ticket: Visitors who present a valid German severe-disability identification can receive a festival wristband together with their accompanying person. The current policy states that this applies regardless of the specific disability designation.

Viewing platform: A raised, accessible platform with ramp access provides a clearer view of the main stage for visitors who need it.

Equipment support: The festival provides equipment rental and minor wheelchair repairs through an on-site mobility service.

Sign-language access: Selected performances include live sign-language interpretation by deaf performers. The 2027 inclusion programme already identifies this as part of the festival’s accessibility work.

Visitors requiring specific assistance should contact the festival before travelling because the Harz terrain can be uneven.

Best days to attend

Thursday: Thursday is useful for visitors who want to arrive early, collect their wristbands and establish their campsite before the main weekend programme becomes busy. The campsite currently opens at 10:00 on Thursday.

Friday: Friday provides a full day of music and is suitable for visitors who want to experience several stages, including the larger open-air performances and late-night programme.

Saturday: Saturday is the final main festival day and historically features a long sequence of afternoon, evening and nighttime performances. The previous 2026 programme continued until approximately 05:00 on Saturday night.

For visitors who want the complete experience, a three-day ticket with camping provides access to the entire weekend rather than requiring a separate journey for each day.

Previous year’s highlights

The 2026 edition was the 20th edition of Rocken am Brocken and continued the festival’s established combination of indie, rock, pop, hip-hop and electronic music.

The programme included internationally known performer Peaches alongside German-language and alternative acts such as Von Wegen Lisbeth, $oho Bani, Mine, Team Scheisse, Swiss & Die Andern, Martin Kohlstedt, Esther Graf, Fuffifufzich, RAUM27, Pöbel MC and Blackout Problems.

Published set-time information shows how the programme developed throughout the day. Thursday included afternoon performances followed by Mine, Blackout Problems, Team Scheisse, Peaches and Von Wegen Lisbeth during the evening and night. Friday continued with acts including Hinterlandgang, Marlo Grosshardt, Ebow and Friska Viljor.

The 2025 edition also featured a different mix of artists, including Kate Nash, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, Madsen, Zartmann and Apsilon, demonstrating the festival’s continued focus on changing its annual programme.

Beyond music, Rocken am Brocken has traditionally included workshops, readings, sports activities, an acoustic trail and other daytime activities. The combination of outdoor programming and camping remains an important part of the festival identity.

For 2027, the organizer has already confirmed the return to the Upper Harz and the three-day format, while the new lineup and programme details will be announced progressively.

Official tickets

Rocken am Brocken 2027 ticket prices and the full ticket shop release have not yet been announced. The official website currently states that the lineup, tickets and additional information will arrive progressively, with newsletter subscribers receiving updates first.

Previous 2026 pricing provides a useful reference for planning. The standard three-day festival ticket was approximately $163 based on the published €139 price. This included festival admission and camping, including the stated camping and waste charges.

The previous supporter ticket was approximately $210 based on the published €179 price. This ticket included the same festival and camping access while allowing visitors to make an additional contribution to the festival.

Previous day-ticket references were approximately $70 for Thursday and approximately $82 for Friday or Saturday. These prices are from the previous edition and should not be presented as confirmed 2027 prices.

For general questions, the official festival contact is info@brocken.rocks. The organizer’s official website should be checked for the 2027 ticket release, final prices, lineup and updated visitor information.
