What to expect in 2027

The British Grand Prix 2027 will return to Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire from 2–4 July 2027 as Round 10 of the 2027 FIA Formula One World Championship. Silverstone will host one of the championship’s ten Sprint weekends in 2027, giving fans three days of competitive Formula 1 track action from Friday through Sunday.

The weekend will combine Formula 1 racing with support-category action, fan zones, concerts, entertainment and automotive experiences. Silverstone’s 2027 event programme is being marketed as a four-day celebration, with the wider venue opening on Thursday 1 July. British pop star Robbie Williams has already been confirmed as the headline act for the opening concert on the M&S Mainstage on Thursday evening.

The 2027 event follows a record-breaking 2026 British Grand Prix, which attracted 564,000 spectators across four days. The 2026 race also featured Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, F1 Academy and an F1 Sprint, creating 17 competitive sessions across four championships.

For 2027, the Sprint format means the weekend will have a different competitive structure from a traditional Grand Prix. Friday will feature Formula 1 practice and Sprint Qualifying, Saturday will feature the Sprint followed by Grand Prix Qualifying, and Sunday will culminate in the British Grand Prix itself. Exact session times remain to be confirmed by Formula 1.

Away from the track, every main admission ticket provides access to the entertainment programme, F1 Fanzone, Silverstone Museum and evening concerts. New and returning ticket experiences include General Admission Plus, reserved grandstands, the Landostand, the new George Russell Grandstand, enclosures and hospitality packages.

Event dates

The official Formula 1 calendar confirms the British Grand Prix for 2–4 July 2027 at Silverstone. The wider Silverstone event begins on Thursday, 1 July, with the opening concert and additional entertainment.

The main weekend structure is:

  • Thursday, 1 July: Opening event and Robbie Williams concert, with the wider Silverstone entertainment programme beginning.
  • Friday, 2 July: Formula 1 Practice 1 and Sprint Qualifying, plus support activities and entertainment.
  • Saturday, 3 July: Formula 1 Sprint and Grand Prix Qualifying, together with support-category activity.
  • Sunday, 4 July: Formula 1 British Grand Prix and the final day of the event.

Silverstone’s event page currently lists the wider experience as 1–4 July, while the official Formula 1 championship calendar identifies 2–4 July as the British Grand Prix weekend.

Venue & event site

The event takes place at Silverstone Circuit, the historic Northamptonshire venue that has hosted the British Grand Prix since the beginning of the Formula 1 World Championship era in 1950. The current Grand Prix circuit measures 5.891 kilometres.

Silverstone combines permanent grandstands, grass viewing areas, hospitality facilities, entertainment zones, fan areas and historic motorsport attractions. The circuit includes famous sections such as Copse, Maggotts, Becketts, Chapel, Hangar Straight, Stowe, Vale, Club, Village and The Loop.

The circuit’s layout creates several distinct spectator experiences. High-speed sections such as Hangar Straight provide opportunities to see the cars at extreme speed, while slower corners such as Village and Vale provide closer views of braking, overtaking and acceleration.

Silverstone Museum is also included with event admission and gives visitors an opportunity to explore the circuit’s motorsport history, legendary cars and major racing stories.

Full event programme

The 2027 Formula 1 programme is built around the Sprint weekend format. Formula 1 has confirmed the basic sequence of sessions, but the detailed timetable with exact local start times has not yet been published.

The expected structure is:

Thursday, 1 July

The wider event begins with the opening entertainment programme. Robbie Williams will headline the M&S Mainstage, performing a career-spanning set as the opening concert. The concert ticket is currently being sold separately from the main race weekend ticket, with access beginning from 5:00 p.m.

Friday, 2 July

Formula 1 will hold its first practice session before Sprint Qualifying. This is the only Formula 1 practice session in the Sprint weekend structure, making it an important part of preparation for the competitive sessions that follow.

Saturday, 3 July

Saturday will contain two major Formula 1 competitions: the Sprint and Grand Prix Qualifying. The Sprint provides an additional points-paying race, while Qualifying determines the starting order for Sunday’s main Grand Prix.

Sunday, 4 July

The main British Grand Prix will conclude the weekend. The drivers will compete over the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit for championship points, with the final race timetable to be published closer to the event.

Racing schedule & sessions

The confirmed 2027 Formula 1 session structure is:

  • Friday: Practice 1
  • Friday: Sprint Qualifying
  • Saturday: Sprint
  • Saturday: Grand Prix Qualifying
  • Sunday: British Grand Prix

Formula 1’s official event page currently marks each 2027 session time as TBC, so exact start times should not be treated as confirmed yet.

The Sprint format changes the competitive rhythm of the weekend. Sprint Qualifying on Friday establishes the starting order for Saturday’s Sprint. The Sprint then takes place on Saturday before the separate Qualifying session for Sunday’s Grand Prix. The result is an additional F1 race for spectators compared with a standard Grand Prix weekend.

Support categories are expected to form part of the wider racing programme, but their complete 2027 Silverstone timetable has not yet been published. In 2026, the event included Formula 2, Formula 3 and F1 Academy alongside Formula 1, with 17 competitive sessions across the four championships.

Drivers, teams & competitors

The 2027 Formula 1 grid will consist of 11 teams, with Cadillac having joined the championship as the 11th team for 2026. However, not every 2027 driver seat had been formally confirmed by September 2026, so the final British Grand Prix entry list should be checked closer to the event.

Several important 2027 driver arrangements are already known.

McLaren: Lando Norris has a contract through at least 2030, while Oscar Piastri is confirmed through at least the end of 2027.

Mercedes: George Russell and Kimi Antonelli are expected to continue with Mercedes in 2027, while Russell has described his agreement as multi-year.

Ferrari: Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are set to continue as Ferrari’s pairing into 2027 according to Formula 1’s current driver-contract information.

Williams: Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz have both agreed contracts that keep them with Williams for 2027.

Alpine: Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto will form Alpine’s 2027 line-up.

Red Bull Racing: Max Verstappen has confirmed that he will remain with Red Bull through at least 2030. The complete second-seat situation should be checked when the team publishes its final 2027 line-up.

Cadillac: Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas formed Cadillac’s inaugural 2026 line-up, and Cadillac has indicated confidence in retaining Perez for 2027.

Haas had not yet confirmed its 2027 driver line-up as of 24 September 2026, so its final British Grand Prix competitors should not be assumed at this stage.

Cars & automotive highlights

The British Grand Prix will showcase Formula 1’s new-generation cars introduced under the 2026 regulations. These cars are designed around a lighter chassis concept, increased electrical power, active aerodynamics and advanced sustainable fuel technology.

The 2027 cars will continue within this regulatory framework, although the FIA has already agreed further changes for 2027 and 2028. These include adjustments to the balance between internal-combustion and energy-recovery contributions, fuel energy flow and energy management.

The FIA also approved a reduction in total race distance for 2027 from the previous 305-kilometre standard to 290 kilometres, corresponding to approximately two or three fewer laps depending on the circuit.

Fans can expect to see cars from Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, Red Bull Racing, Aston Martin, Williams, Alpine, Haas, Racing Bulls, Audi and Cadillac, subject to the final 2027 championship entry list.

Beyond the F1 cars, Silverstone’s wider attractions include historic Formula 1 machinery, the Silverstone Museum, automotive displays and the circuit’s F1 Fanzone. The Garage Enclosure is specifically built around automotive displays and motorsport-inspired features.

Silverstone has opened 2027 ticket sales, with several categories available.

General Admission Plus: Adds a dedicated standing viewing area designed to provide closer trackside views while retaining access to the wider event.

Landostand: The dedicated Lando Norris fan experience returns for 2027, including a reserved seat or GA+ viewing option, a Lando fan pack and dedicated fan-zone access.

George Russell Grandstand: New for 2027, this three-day reserved grandstand at Farm Curve includes an official George Russell T-shirt and dedicated fan atmosphere.

Enclosures: Options include Boxpark, T1, Garage, Club Silverstone, Wellington and Inside Nine, each offering different combinations of reserved seating, viewing areas, food, fast-track access and entertainment.

Current 2027 general admission tickets are advertised from approximately $66, based on Silverstone’s starting price of £50. Actual prices vary according to ticket type, day and availability.

VIP & hospitality options

Silverstone offers a substantial hospitality programme for the 2027 British Grand Prix. Current hospitality options include Starting Grid, Heritage Club, The Vale, Racing Green, Torque Club, Moët & Chandon Club and other premium experiences.

Starting Grid: Provides a front-row perspective overlooking the start/finish line, premium social areas and British dining throughout the day. Current advertised prices start from approximately $1,319.

Heritage Club: Located around the National Pits Straight, this experience combines historic Silverstone surroundings with an all-day British buffet. Current prices start from approximately $883.

Racing Green: Offers a more festival-style hospitality environment with grandstand views and food and entertainment. Current prices start at approximately $554 for Friday, $831 for Saturday, $1,703 for Sunday, $2,365 for Saturday and Sunday, or $2,787 for the three-day package.

Moët & Chandon Club: Provides premium dining, Champagne, a garden terrace, lounge access and track views. Current prices range from approximately $1,174 for Friday to $4,891 for the three-day package.

Hospitality availability can change quickly, and some products or days may sell out before the event.

Exhibitors & automotive brands

The British Grand Prix is more than the Formula 1 paddock. Silverstone’s F1 Fanzone, Drivers Inn, entertainment areas and Silverstone Museum create additional spaces for fans to engage with motorsport.

The circuit’s Garage Enclosure is designed specifically for automotive enthusiasts and combines car displays with motorsport-inspired features. The wider event also includes official team merchandise and Formula 1-related retail.

Silverstone’s official merchandise operation offers team and circuit products, while the museum contains historic competition cars and exhibits covering the development of British motorsport.

Specific 2027 commercial exhibitors and manufacturer activations have not all been announced yet. Silverstone notes that commercial trading at the British Grand Prix is handled through Formula 1 because Silverstone does not hold the commercial rights to F1.

Event rules

All visitors must have a valid event ticket for entry. Silverstone’s 2027 terms state that tickets are issued digitally through an authorised mobile system and unauthorised resale is prohibited except through an official Silverstone resale platform if one becomes available.

Important rules include:

  • Tickets: Every attendee requires an appropriate ticket.
  • Resale: Unauthorised ticket resale can result in cancellation and refusal of entry.
  • Bags: Bags over 20 litres are prohibited.
  • Drones: Drones and remote-controlled aircraft are not permitted.
  • Weapons: Offensive weapons and restricted substances are prohibited.
  • Glass: Glass bottles and containers are not allowed.
  • BBQs: Personal BBQs are prohibited.
  • Cycles: Electric and manual cycles are not permitted within the venue.
  • Smoking: Smoking and vaping are prohibited in grandstands and enclosed areas.
  • Animals: Assistance dogs are permitted with prior arrangements; other animals are not admitted.

Visitors should also check the final event-day guidance because security procedures and prohibited-item rules can be updated.

How to get there

Silverstone Circuit is located in Northamptonshire between Northampton, Milton Keynes and Oxford. The circuit’s rural location means most visitors arrive by car, coach, shuttle service or organised transport.

For international visitors, London Heathrow and Birmingham airports provide major air connections to the region. Milton Keynes and Northampton are useful nearby transport hubs, while Oxford provides another option depending on the travel route.

During the British Grand Prix, traffic around Silverstone becomes extremely busy. Visitors should allow considerably more time than on a normal Silverstone event day.

Official Park & Ride and shuttle options are available with selected ticket and enclosure products. For example, Boxpark includes free Park & Ride or shuttle-bus transfers with eligible ticket packages.

Public transport & parking

Silverstone strongly encourages visitors to plan transportation in advance because the British Grand Prix generates exceptionally high traffic volumes.

Official parking: Circuit parking must be purchased officially and the vehicle registration number must be registered in advance. Vehicles without the required official parking arrangements may be refused access to official car parks.

Park & Ride: Several ticket products include free Park & Ride or shuttle-bus services. These can reduce the need to drive directly into the circuit area.

Coaches and buses: Official event transportation can operate from designated locations, with details normally published closer to the event.

Train: Milton Keynes, Northampton and Banbury are among the nearest major railway stations. From these locations, visitors can use onward taxi, coach or event transportation.

The official travel information should be checked before departure because road approaches and transport arrangements can change during the Grand Prix weekend.

Accommodation areas

Staying close to Silverstone can significantly reduce travel stress during the British Grand Prix.

Silverstone village: The closest accommodation options provide the shortest journey to the circuit, although availability is limited and tends to sell quickly.

Milton Keynes: Offers a large selection of hotels, restaurants and transport connections and is one of the most practical bases for Grand Prix visitors.

Northampton: Provides extensive hotel capacity and is convenient for visitors approaching from the north and east.

Towcester: This nearby market town offers accommodation closer to the circuit while remaining connected to the surrounding road network.

Banbury: A useful option for visitors approaching from Oxfordshire and the west.

Oxford: Suitable for visitors who want to combine the Grand Prix with a city break and are prepared for a longer journey to Silverstone.

Silverstone also operates official camping and glamping accommodation, allowing visitors to stay within the event environment throughout the weekend. The 2027 camping and glamping sales opened before general admission.

The circuit also has trackside accommodation options including Escapade Silverstone and the Hilton Garden Inn, although availability around Grand Prix weekend is limited.

Food & drink

Silverstone provides a broad range of food and beverage choices throughout the event site, from quick-service food stands to premium hospitality dining.

Boxpark is one of the main food-and-entertainment attractions for 2027, combining trackside viewing with street food, bars, entertainment and a dedicated fan-park atmosphere. Food and drinks are purchased separately within the Boxpark experience.

Other Silverstone facilities include Box Box Pizza, The Gallery Restaurant, Coffee Box, Pit Stop Cafe and Refuel Cafe.

Hospitality packages provide a more structured dining experience. Depending on the package, guests can receive breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, buffet dining, drinks and premium food service.

Inside Nine is one of the 2027 enclosure options where food and soft drinks are included in the ticket, alongside covered seating and dedicated viewing.

Visitors should check their specific ticket conditions because included food and drink vary significantly between General Admission, enclosures and hospitality packages.

Accessibility

Silverstone provides accessible viewing platforms, wheelchair-accessible areas and accessible grandstands for the British Grand Prix.

Accessible options include wheelchair viewing platforms at Copse Terrace, Luffield Complex and Luffield Terrace, as well as accessible positions within selected grandstands and the Wellington Enclosure.

For fans requiring full-time assistance, Silverstone operates a Personal Assistant Scheme. Subject to eligibility, approval and availability, one complimentary PA ticket can be provided for an eligible attendee. Applications must be submitted within seven days of the relevant ticket purchase.

Blue Badge parking is available subject to limited capacity. Accessible parking is located at Car Park 50B, with Gate 19 and Gate 16 identified as the closest accessible entrances.

Silverstone also provides dedicated areas for neurodivergent fans. These are subject to availability and must be arranged through the accessibility application process.

Best races & attractions to see

Formula 1 Sprint: Saturday’s Sprint is one of the major additions to the 2027 weekend. It provides an additional competitive F1 race before Grand Prix Qualifying later that day.

Grand Prix Qualifying: Saturday afternoon’s Qualifying session determines the starting grid for Sunday’s British Grand Prix and is particularly important at Silverstone because track position can influence race strategy.

British Grand Prix: Sunday’s main race remains the centrepiece of the weekend, bringing the full F1 field together for the championship’s British round.

Copse and Maggotts-Becketts: These high-speed sections showcase the aerodynamic performance of the modern F1 cars and provide some of Silverstone’s most distinctive viewing experiences.

Hangar Straight and Stowe: The long straight leading into Stowe creates opportunities to watch high-speed acceleration followed by heavy braking.

Landostand: The dedicated Lando Norris fan experience returns in 2027 with views toward Hangar Straight, a fan zone and an exclusive merchandise pack.

George Russell Grandstand: New for 2027, the Farm Curve grandstand provides a dedicated home-fan area for George Russell supporters.

Silverstone Museum: Included with qualifying event admission, the museum provides historic racing cars and exhibits covering the circuit’s role in British motorsport.

Robbie Williams concert: The opening concert on Thursday 1 July provides a major entertainment attraction before the main F1 competition begins.

Previous year’s highlights

The 2026 British Grand Prix was one of the biggest events in Silverstone’s history, attracting a record-breaking 564,000 fans across four days. Silverstone reported this as the biggest Formula 1 event ever held by attendance.

Charles Leclerc won the 2026 British Grand Prix for Ferrari, recording his first victory at Silverstone. George Russell finished second for Mercedes, while Lewis Hamilton completed the podium for Ferrari in front of his home crowd. Lando Norris finished fourth for McLaren.

The race was shaped by changing strategies and incidents. Kimi Antonelli led after Leclerc’s pit stop but later suffered a car issue that dropped him down the order. A late Safety Car period followed a crash involving Max Verstappen, adding further uncertainty to the final stages.

The 2026 weekend also marked Silverstone’s return to the F1 Sprint format. It was the first Sprint at the circuit since 2021 and formed part of an unusually broad support programme. Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3 and F1 Academy all competed at Silverstone, with F1 Academy making its British Grand Prix debut.

The event also featured five British Formula 1 drivers on the grid for the first time in 30 years, adding another notable element to the home-race atmosphere.

Official tickets

The official 2027 British Grand Prix ticket sale is now open through Silverstone. General admission is advertised from approximately $66, while hospitality currently starts from approximately $554. Prices vary according to ticket category, day, availability and package.

The official ticket release schedule included priority sales for Silverstone Racing Club members, Landostand sales, camping and glamping priority sales, American Express presale access, George Russell Grandstand priority sales and general sale from 24 September 2026.

Silverstone specifically warns against buying tickets through unauthorised resale websites. Tickets purchased through unauthorised channels can be cancelled and may result in refused entry. The 2027 terms state that resale is permitted only through an official Silverstone resale platform if such a platform is launched.
