The tournament is an ATP Tour 500 event and forms part of the late-season European indoor hard-court calendar before the ATP Tour Finals in Turin. The 2026 edition is the 55th staging of the tournament.
The nine-day event combines qualifying matches, a 32-player singles main draw, a 16-team doubles draw and a programme of high-level tennis on Center Court. The tournament attracts established ATP stars, rising players and Swiss favourites, with ranking points and the tournament title at stake.

Stadium & sports venue
Swiss Indoors Basel is held at St. Jakobshalle, located at St. Jakobs-Strasse 390, 4052 Basel. The indoor arena is the tournament’s main competition venue and provides the Center Court used for the principal matches.
The venue also contains IWB Court 1, which uses open seating. Center Court has assigned seating across several categories, with the official FAQ stating that all categories provide good views while seats with impaired visibility are identified separately.
St. Jakobshalle has hosted the Swiss Indoors since 1995. Basel’s tournament has a long history dating back to 1970 and became an ATP Tour 500 event in 2009. The tournament is recognised by the organisers as one of the major indoor events on the ATP calendar.
The surrounding St. Jakob area also provides public transport connections, parking facilities and nearby commercial amenities, making it possible to combine a tournament visit with time in Basel.

- Arthur Fils – France
- Rafael Jódar – Spain

The tournament’s September announcement described the first nine players as part of the confirmed high-level field, while Wawrinka enters as the first beneficiary of a wildcard. The final entry list is due to be completed around the end of September.
Stan Wawrinka is particularly significant for the 2026 edition. The three-time Grand Slam champion is scheduled to finish his professional career in Basel, with a dedicated celebration on 26 October and his first-round match on 27 October.
Tournament format & competition structure
The tournament follows the ATP Tour 500 structure. The singles competition progresses through first-round matches, second-round matches, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final.
The main singles draw contains 32 players. Qualification takes place before the main draw and determines additional places in the first round. The doubles draw consists of 16 teams and follows its own elimination pathway through the early rounds, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.
Each singles match uses the standard professional men’s tennis scoring format. Players must win the required number of sets to advance, with the exact ATP rules governing tiebreak procedures and other match conditions.
Because the tournament is played indoors, matches are protected from normal outdoor weather interruptions. However, schedules can still move depending on match length, medical timeouts and other on-court circumstances.
The tournament awards ATP ranking points as part of the ATP Tour 500 category, making the event important for players competing during the final stage of the season.

The official 2026 ticket page confirms that day passes can be purchased through the tournament’s official ticket system and Ticketcorner. Ticket release phases
The 2026 ticket pre-sale opened on 6 May at 10:00am. Tickets can be purchased through the Swiss Indoors website and Ticketcorner, while official Ticketcorner advance-sale locations are also available.
The tournament’s ticketing system allows visitors to purchase individual day passes rather than requiring a full-tournament package. Tickets are valid for the whole day and cover all-day matches on Center Court, while IWB Court 1 operates with open seating.
The official ticketing system can sometimes display a “currently not available” status when a day’s tickets have temporarily sold out. The organisers state that additional tickets can potentially become available later if unpaid purchases are released.
Each customer ordering through the website or ticket hotline can reserve up to nine tickets. Tickets can be transferable, although re-entry conditions apply when a transferred ticket holder leaves the venue.
VIP & hospitality options
Swiss Indoors Basel provides several premium hospitality formats.
The Premium Lounge is an all-inclusive daily package located in the Tennisdorf, the tournament’s approximately 2,000-square-metre sponsors’ VIP area. The package includes Category 1 Center Court seats behind the baseline, buffet catering, drinks, champagne, a reserved table and a dedicated VIP entrance.
The officially published 2026 Premium Lounge reference prices are approximately $834 per person per day from Monday through Thursday and $1,076 per person per day from Friday through Sunday, excluding VAT. Membercards provide a reserved premium Center Court seat for the entire tournament, with transferable daily tickets and access to the Tennisdorf during the main event. The published reference price is approximately $3,020 for the full nine-day membercard, excluding VAT.
Stadium & event rules
Swiss Indoors Basel operates enhanced security controls during the 2026 tournament. Spectators can be subject to bag inspections and additional checks at the entrances. The measures are based on the tournament’s security concept and recommendations from the ATP Tour and regional police authorities.
Large bags are not permitted. Backpacks, suitcases, bags and handbags larger than DIN A4 are prohibited under the current visitor rules. Spectators should therefore travel with only the essentials needed for their visit.
Photography and video recording are allowed for personal use, but flash photography is strictly prohibited. Commercial recording or activities that interfere with the event are subject to the venue’s regulations.
Visitors are also prohibited from permanently collecting and distributing live scores or statistical information for commercial betting or gambling purposes from inside the stadium.
The tournament operates on a cashless basis in the tournament areas. Visitors should use debit or credit cards, mobile payment or TWINT. The cloakroom and raffle are exceptions to the card-only rule.
How to get there
St. Jakobshalle is located in the St. Jakob district of Basel and is well connected with the city’s public transportation system.
From Basel SBB main railway station, visitors can take tram 8, 10 or 11 to Aeschenplatz and then change to tram 14 for St. Jakob. From Basel Badischer Bahnhof, bus 36 provides a direct connection to St. Jakob.
The venue is also accessible by road from the A2 motorway. Drivers approaching from Lucerne, Bern or Zurich should use the Basel–St. Jakob exit and follow the orange Swiss Indoors signs. Visitors approaching from Delémont and Laufen can use the H18 and the St. Jakob/Muttenz-Industrie exit.
Visitors arriving from Germany or France can continue toward Basel and follow the signs for Basel Süd/St. Jakob after crossing the motorway border area.
Public transport & parking
Public transport is recommended because parking around St. Jakobshalle is limited during the tournament.
The official Park and Ride system uses the Leimgrube and Ruchfeld multi-storey car parks in the Dreispitz area. A shuttle connects these locations with the tournament site, with the shuttle journey taking approximately 10 minutes.
For the 2026 main tournament, the Park and Ride service operates from Monday 26 October through Friday 30 October from 1:00pm until midnight or 30 minutes after the final match ball. On Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November it operates from noon until midnight or 30 minutes after the final match.
The St. Jakobshalle parking garage has only a limited number of spaces. The organisers specifically advise visitors not to use the St. Jakob-Park shopping-centre car park for long stays because parking costs can be considerably higher. Parking around the front and surrounding area of St. Jakobshalle is prohibited for safety and emergency-access reasons.
Accommodation areas
Basel city centre is the most convenient accommodation base for visitors who want access to restaurants, museums, shopping and public transport while attending Swiss Indoors.
St. Jakob and Muttenz: These areas are particularly convenient for visitors prioritising proximity to St. Jakobshalle. They provide relatively short journeys to the tournament and are useful for visitors attending several sessions.
Basel city centre: The central districts offer the widest selection of hotels, restaurants and evening entertainment. Public transport makes it straightforward to reach St. Jakobshalle.
Messeplatz and Clara: These districts provide accommodation close to Basel’s exhibition and business areas, with convenient tram connections into the centre and toward St. Jakob.
Badischer Bahnhof area: Useful for visitors arriving from Germany and those wanting direct access to bus connections toward St. Jakob.
Riehen and surrounding Basel region: These areas provide alternatives for visitors looking for quieter accommodation while remaining within reach of Basel’s public transportation network.
The official Swiss Indoors visitor information also promotes Basel’s broad accommodation market, ranging from hotels and designer properties to youth hostels and bed-and-breakfast accommodation.
Food & drink at the venue
Swiss Indoors provides a wide selection of food and beverage options throughout the tournament venue. The organisers describe the catering programme as covering both full meals and quick snacks for spectators.
The Tennisdorf contains dedicated dining facilities, including Brasserie Verseau. Restaurant reservations are available for eligible visitors, with access conditions depending on the day and whether the visitor has Tennisdorf access.
The foyer also hosts catering stands serving visitors throughout the tournament. These provide a more casual alternative for spectators who want food or drinks without spending a full session in a restaurant.
All tournament food and beverage areas operate on a card-only basis, with debit and credit cards, mobile payments and TWINT accepted. A deposit system also applies to certain reusable PET, glass, crockery and cutlery items in the catering area.
Visitors staying in central Basel can also choose from the city’s extensive restaurant and café scene before or after their session.
Accessibility
St. Jakobshalle provides partial wheelchair access, with dedicated wheelchair spaces available during Swiss Indoors. The number of wheelchair places is limited, so visitors requiring accessible seating are advised to contact the tournament directly before attending.
Disabled parking spaces are also available, although capacity is limited. Visitors should plan their arrival early and confirm the latest access arrangements with the venue.
Public transport provides direct access to St. Jakob, and the tram and bus stops are close to the arena. Visitors with mobility requirements should allow extra time for transfers and contact the organiser if they require specific assistance.
